Tottenham Hotspur hosts Gent at “Wembley Stadium ” in a game from Europa League.
Gent fully deserved their win over the Spurs last week by 1-0. During the weekend they drew their game against Standard Liege and they remained their spot at the 8th position in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League. It has been a very inconsistent campaign for the Belgians who haven’t won an away game since December when they won their Europa League clash against Konyaspor in Turkey. Since the winter break, Gent have been improving, winning 3 and drawing 3 of their 7 games. Shakhtar beat them by 5-0 in the group stage and showed the weak spots in their defense which can be exploited by a good attack.
Tottenham lost 2 consecutive games- against Liverpool and Gent but they bounced back in the weekend with a win over Fulham in the FA Cup. The Spurs are struggling away from home and this resulted in a loss in the first game of the tie. Despite that, they are almost perfect at home, winning their last 10 games in all competitions at “White Hart Lane”. The last time they lost was in the Champions League group stage against Bayer Leverkusen but the game was played at Wembley, so it shouldn’t count as a home loss.
